Latest News : FAA Refuses to Fund Airport!
In a July 25, 2006 letter to Senator Bill Nelson, the Federal Aviation Administration informs him that funding for the proposed airport will not be forthcoming from their discretionary funds: "Letter of Intent funding is unlikely with the low benefit-cost ratio for the project."
The FAA admits that the proposed new regional airport would have little or no aviation benefit, so does not qualify for their discretionary airport improvement funds. FAA says the airport authority will have to find federal funds elsewhere, but to date it has not.
Making matters worse is that the AA has withheld this important information from the citizens, and from folks making business decisions based on the airport being funded, for nearly a year now. It was unearthed only as as result of a public records request by a member of our group.
